Precious Moment

Doesn't this image invite you into the friendship shared between these two sisters? It makes you want to know all their secrets. The rich colors and depth are so beautiful. How precious to capture this moment in time. I'm sure that years down the road this portrait will remain a family treasure.

More From Our Sister Sessions

This was such a memorable portrait session. Having almost lost one of her girls, it was wonderful for their mom to have both of her daughters together, so beautiful and alive. Seeing the energy and bond between these two girls and having been part of capturing them together made it emotional for me too. That is what makes my work so rewarding.

Recent Sessions

I love this image. This family was having a great time with their session at the beach. I really like the shadows here and how the boarder just sets it all off. What a great shot to get out of the session! So much fun!

These kids enjoyed spending a couple of week's at their grandma's family farm. Imagine all the great memories that they'll have. It was just the perfect place to have their portrait taken.

This portrait was taken for this little guy's grandma. That smile would melt any grandma's heart. I think he was excited to have his portrait taken at the local waterpark. It's a keeper!

Sisters

We had a great time photographing a couple of my very good friends. I enjoyed being the official "lighting girl". We took to the town in the early morning sunshine and found some really great portrait locations. The end results were some very beautiful shots.

The beach is the perfect place to spend time together!

These ladies were so much fun! They were enjoying a day at the Kingfisher Resort and Spa...looks like it was a great time!

Sisters Portraits

We are excited to be holding our first annual sisters portrait event. The portrait sessions are free to anyone wanting to participate. Also with each session that is booked we are making a donation to the Women's Transitional Society. This makes it a really great fundraiser and the women are just having a blast with their sessions. It is amazing to see sisters of all ages just enjoying each others company, interacting and laughing together is what it's all about. All the portraits have been incredible! We have lots more to come too.

More from the Mother Daughter Event

I can’t take my eyes off of these portraits of Ashley and her daughter Talia. It is amazing how Talia’s personality and energy just shines in these portraits. Look at the sparkle in her eyes. You are both so beautiful! Congratulations Ashley and Aaron on the arrival of new baby Eva!

Mother Daughter Event 2006

It was a privilege to do a portrait for Katie Lamont. This one of Katie and her girls is truly perfect. Be sure not to miss “Kiss you Kate” a benefit for Katie Lamont held July 22nd at the Upper Native Son’s hall. It is always so rewarding to be part of a team helping a great cause.

Introducing Coralea

I have just joined the team here at Van’s Portraits. I am really enjoying working with Jerry and Carolyn and all of our valued clients. What is exciting about working here is interacting with people in our lovely Comox Valley and seeing the value that they place on family. I am the only girl in a family of 6 and have enjoyed being challenged yet very spoiled by my three wonderful brothers. I know and understand that time moves quickly and there is no going back. Let’s not lose sight of how important it is to capture family times while we can. It is now a great privilege for me to be a part of bringing quality family portraits to you and helping to capture treasured moments in your lives. We have just recently wrapped up our Tribute to Mother’s and Daughters event for 2006. Again it has been a wonderful success. We were fortunate to have fun, enthusiastic, beautiful women participate in this event and the results were some truly amazing portraits. Enjoy your portraits ladies!

Some of my favorite portraits sessions are either before after or during storms. The Nijhoff's had perfect timing! This is a great west coast feeling without getting wet.

The boys, Liam and Logan, were great fun. Talk about a sparkle in their eyes. They had such great personalities, I think if comes through in these images.

I just had to put this image up today. We did the Eaton's family session last night at the Royston log sort and the lighting was just great. Julia is such a beautiful young lady, she will probably be embarrassed to see this on the web. Her little brother is Triston, very cool dude, we had fun teasing each other and in the end he did relax.

Fun Boys

In the last couple of weeks I have had a great time chasing a couple of two year old boys with a camera. Talk about a good work out. Capturing the energy as well as the wonder for the world is what these portraits are all about for their parents. Sometimes it is the moments when he is doing his own thing, not even paying attention to me that make it in to print, just walking away day dreaming or laughing at mom. Some images you can hear them speaking with those gestures that will be gone one day. With this much variety the hardest thing to do is narrow down the choices.

As you can see the panel collection is a terrific way to keep a grouping together that tells the whole story. We have been putting lots of these together for clients and with our new tecnology we can build them during the viewing for your approval.

It is always sad to see them leave the studio, but I know they will be treasured for years and years.
